According to renowned journalist Jason Schreier, the acclaimed studio Rocksteady is currently developing a brand-new single-player Batman game. While details are still under wraps, Schreier has not confirmed whether this new title will serve as a prequel, a direct continuation of the beloved Arkham saga, or if it will be set in an entirely new universe. However, whispers from insiders suggest that Rocksteady might be working on a game based on "Batman Beyond," immersing players in a futuristic Gotham with plans for a full-blown trilogy. This exciting project is anticipated to launch on the next generation of consoles.

The Arkham series was celebrated for its stunning visuals, and a futuristic Gotham could represent Rocksteady's most visually impressive creation to date. The move to a "Batman Beyond" setting also addresses a significant challenge: finding a new voice for Batman. Following the passing of the legendary Kevin Conroy in 2022, the studio may choose to focus on characters like Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne, a direction similar to what Warner Bros. Montreal had envisioned for their canceled sequel to Batman: Arkham Knight.
Rocksteady's last venture into an online shooter did not meet player expectations, resulting in a flop. The studio had to abandon its post-launch plans within a year, concluding the story with a hastily produced animation that reversed some of the game's most controversial plot points, revealing that the fallen heroes were actually clones.
Now, Rocksteady is returning to its roots with a new solo Batman adventure. However, insiders caution that fans will need to wait several years before this highly anticipated game graces our screens.
