Bandai Namco has announced the closure of PAC-MAN Mobile, a poignant move as the legendary icon marks its 45th anniversary this year. Originally launched over a decade ago, this mobile rendition of the classic game is set to be discontinued.
When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?
The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases were halted starting April 1st. If you're still enjoying the game, you can continue playing until the end date.
The decision to shut down PAC-MAN Mobile rather than transition it to an offline version has left many players disappointed. An offline mode would have kept the game alive for its dedicated community and continued to generate revenue for Bandai Namco.
Known previously as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, this mobile version offered more than just the classic arcade experience. It included an 8-bit arcade mode, a Story Mode with numerous original mazes, and an Adventure Mode featuring limited-time themed events for exclusive skins. Additionally, the Tournament Mode provided weekly maze challenges across three difficulty levels, along with a variety of skins for PAC-MAN, the ghosts, and even the joystick.
The Reason
Over the years, the game has faced numerous issues and bugs, which likely contributed to the decision to shut it down. The initial excitement surrounding its launch on Android, where players competed for high scores and leaderboard rankings, has faded over time.
If you're keen on experiencing PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before its shutdown, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
