*Avowed* expands on the rich Fantasy world of Eora, first introduced in the *Pillars of Eternity* series of isometric RPGs. While the game features a variety of races within the Kith, the character creator offers a more limited selection. Here's a comprehensive look at the playable races in *Avowed*.
Humans, referred to as Folk in *Avowed*, are the most common race both in the game and within the character creator. As part of the broader Kith group, which includes various sentient and civilized species, humans are central to the game's narrative and player experience.
The character customization for humans in *Avowed* is designed to cater to a wide audience. Players have access to numerous presets, along with detailed customization tools. These include a variety of facial presets, a skin tone slider, and diverse hair textures, ensuring players can create a character that closely represents them.
Elves are another selectable race in *Avowed*. They closely resemble humans but are distinguished by slightly different facial structures and, of course, their iconic long, pointy ears.
Godlikes represent a unique third race option in *Avowed*. Although all Envoys in the game's story are Godlike, players have the choice to display or hide these distinctive features. Godlikes come with unique hair and facial features, ranging from subtle to surreal. At the launch of *Avowed*, players can choose from 14 different Godlike facial features and four distinct hair options, available across all character races and body types.
In *Avowed*, players can select from four Body Types: two masculine and two feminine, available for both Humans and Elves. Additionally, there are two voice options for each gender. Players can also choose their character's identifier, which determines the pronouns used for them, with options including he, she, and they.
While *Avowed* features a diverse array of Kith races among NPCs, not all are available for player customization. Races such as Dwarves, the semiaquatic Aumaua, and the half-sized, hairy Orlans are seen throughout the Living Lands but cannot be chosen in the character creator. However, there's potential for Obsidian Entertainment to introduce additional race options in future updates or DLC for *Avowed*.
That covers all the playable races in *Avowed*. For further customization, check out our guide on the various backgrounds you can select during character creation.
