Get ready, Avatar fans! Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have just unveiled a thrilling new addition to the beloved franchise: Avatar: Seven Havens. This announcement comes as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the iconic Avatar: The Last Airbender. The creators of the original series, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, are back to bring us this exciting 26-episode, 2D animated series. It follows the journey of a young Earthbender who steps into the role of the Avatar after Korra.
In the world of Avatar: Seven Havens, a devastating cataclysm has left the world shattered. Our protagonist, a young Earthbender, discovers her destiny as the new Avatar, only to find that her title marks her as a destroyer rather than a savior in this perilous era. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she embarks on a quest alongside her long-lost twin to unravel their mysterious origins and prevent the collapse of the Seven Havens, the last bastions of civilization.
DiMartino and Konietzko shared their excitement, stating, “When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters.”
Avatar: Seven Havens will be released in two parts, with Book 1 and Book 2 each consisting of 13 episodes. The series is being co-created by DiMartino and Konietzko, alongside executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. While the cast remains under wraps for now, anticipation is already building.
This marks the first mainline TV series from Avatar Studios, who are also busy with a full-length animated movie set to premiere in theaters on January 30, 2026. This film will explore a new adventure with an adult Aang.
As part of the 20th anniversary festivities, Avatar Studios has also announced a range of new books, comics, concerts, toys, and even a game on Roblox, ensuring that fans have plenty to look forward to as we celebrate this milestone.
