The Fire TV Stick 4K Max provides a superior streaming experience without breaking the bank. It features a Quadcore processor and 16GB of storage, allowing you to download numerous apps without sacrificing performance. The Wi-Fi 6E support ensures lower latency and higher streaming speeds, although you'll need a compatible router to maximize this feature. Additionally, like the Fire TV Stick 4K, it enables you to play Xbox games through the Xbox Cloud Gaming service, requiring only a Game Pass Ultimate membership and a Bluetooth controller to dive into titles like Starfield.

The Fire TV Stick 4K is an affordable yet powerful streaming device. For just $20 more than the Fire TV Stick Lite, it offers control over your smart home and content via the built-in Alexa voice assistant. It streamlines your TV and soundbar remote into one package and includes quick-access buttons for key apps, simplifying navigation across streaming services. If you're inspired by shows like the Fallout TV show and want to explore games like Fallout 76 and Fallout 4, you can subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and play these titles using an external controller. The device streams at up to 60fps and supports various HDR formats, though the 8GB storage may fill up quickly if you install many apps.

The Fire TV Cube, with its sleek design, is packed with advanced features. Its Octa-Core processor and Alexa Voice Remote enable smooth navigation across Fire OS. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6 or Ethernet for a stable connection. If you're already using Amazon's home ecosystem, the Fire TV Cube acts as an effective hub for managing your devices, from viewing your Ring Camera to setting timers or controlling lighting. It supports a wide range of HDR formats and offers extensive audio compatibility, making it ideal for a home theater setup, perfect for enjoying high-intensity movies like Furiosa.
Best Last-Gen Option
Does not support 4K streaming or Xbox games streaming.

Amazon's previous generation Fire TV Stick is still available, but we generally don't recommend purchasing it now that newer models are on the market. It lacks 4K streaming and Game Pass compatibility, which you can find in the newer Fire TV Stick 4K for just $10 more. If you're drawn to the lower price, consider the Fire TV Stick Lite instead.
If you have an Amazon Fire TV or a recent smart TV, there's typically no need for a Fire TV stick, as these devices already provide access to streaming apps. The exception is if you want to use the Xbox Game Pass streaming app, which is only available on the latest Fire TV sticks.
Only the Fire TV Stick 4K and Fire TV Stick 4K Max are compatible with the Xbox app due to the recent partnership between Amazon and Xbox. Older Fire Sticks and the Fire TV Cube do not support this feature.
Amazon Fire TV devices frequently go on sale, so you should rarely pay full price. Prime Day and Black Friday offer some of the best discounts, while holiday weekends like Presidents' Day, Labor Day, and Memorial Day are also great times to find deals. Check our guide to upcoming sales events for more details on when to shop.
