For gamers chasing top-tier PC performance, the opportunity is here. During its July 4th and Black Friday in July promotions, Dell has slashed the price of its premier Alienware Area-51 prebuilt gaming PC, featuring the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card, starting at $4,449.99 with free shipping. This is a remarkable deal for a prebuilt RTX 5090 system compared to similar models on Amazon, especially given Alienware’s typical premium pricing. The RTX 5090 stands as the market’s most powerful graphics card, rarely available standalone for under $3,000.
The base Alienware Area-51 RTX 5090 configuration includes an Intel Core Ultra 7 265K processor with 240mm liquid cooling, 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and a 2TB SSD. For an additional $250, you can upgrade to the Core Ultra 9 285K with 360mm liquid cooling. The Core Ultra 7 already delivers exceptional gaming performance, with no noticeable gain from the Core Ultra 9 for gaming alone. However, professionals requiring extra cores for tasks like AI generation may find the upgrade worthwhile.
Revealed at CES 2025, Dell’s new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC boasts a revamped chassis, surpassing the 2024 R16 model with enhanced aesthetics and cooling. The I/O panel now sits atop the case, and a full tempered glass side panel replaces the smaller cutout. Air intakes have shifted to the bottom and front, eliminating side vents, while a positive airflow design reduces dust buildup. Upgraded components include a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more robust power supply to support next-gen CPUs and GPUs.
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 reigns as the most potent consumer GPU available. While Nvidia emphasizes software enhancements, AI capabilities, and DLSS 4 for improved gameplay, the 5090 delivers a 25%-30% performance boost over the RTX 4090 in raw hardware rasterization. It also features more (32GB vs. 24GB) and faster (GDDR7 vs. GDDR6) VRAM. This GPU is scarce at retail, often fetching $3,500-$4,000 on eBay.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE Review by Jackie Thomas
"The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has claimed the performance throne from the RTX 4090, though with a less dramatic leap than past generations. For traditional non-AI gaming, the RTX 5090 offers one of the smallest generational improvements recently. Yet, in supported games, DLSS 4 delivers substantial performance boosts—provided you’re comfortable with 75% of frames being AI-generated."
