However, a flicker of hope has ignited thanks to insider Daniel Richtman, who claims the next installment is not only in development but has already begun filming, with actors already cast.

Considering Druckmann's previously vague comments, this rumor might hold water. His statement about "no next The Last of Us" could have referred to a sequel already underway. Furthermore, he's employed similar ambiguity before, preceding the announcement of Part II. However, it's important to note that Richtman has a history of inaccurate leaks.

Nevertheless, the existence of at least a concept for the next game is confirmed. As for an official announcement, Naughty Dog may be prioritizing the marketing of their upcoming new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
