À l'heure actuelle, il n'est pas prévu d'intégrer la poche Pokémon TCG dans le circuit compétitif de Pokémon. Chris Brown, directeur de l'eSport de la Pokémon Company, a partagé une interview VGC le 25 février 2025, que, même si elles évaluent en permanence des ajouts potentiels à la scène compétitive, Pokémon TCG Pocket n'est pas encore prévu pour l'inclusion.

Brown a mentionné avec humour "Pokemon Sleep est là aussi", faisant référence à la bande-annonce de parodie du poisson d'avril de l'entreprise pour le tournoi Pokemon Sleep Champion. Il a cependant souligné que "à ce moment-là, il n'est pas prévu pour Pokemon Pocket à rejoindre, mais nous regardons toujours les choses".

Malgré la présence d'éléments compétitifs au sein de l'application depuis son lancement, les joueurs se portent sur des problèmes d'équilibrage en cours. Pokémon TCG Pocket, étant une version simplifiée du jeu de carte Pokémon original, se concentre davantage sur la fourniture d'une expérience adaptée aux débutants plutôt que de favoriser un environnement compétitif.

Néanmoins, le circuit compétitif Pokémon continue d'organiser une variété d'événements, notamment Pokémon TCG, Pokémon Go, Pokémon Scarlet et Violet, et Pokémon Unite, qui seront tous présentés aux prochains championnats du monde Pokémon en août 2025 à Anaheim, en Californie.
