Today marks a significant day for gaming announcements, as we not only get the official title for Project Mugen but also learn about the upcoming release of Tencent-owned Polaris Quest's open-world RPG, Light of Motiram. This highly anticipated game is set to launch on multiple platforms, including Epic Games, Steam, PlayStation 5, and, ambitiously, on mobile devices.
The studio hinted at the mobile release through Chinese social media, as reported by Gematsu. Given the game's extensive feature set and high visual quality, bringing Light of Motiram to mobile seems like a bold move. The game promises a rich experience with base-building, survival elements, creature collection and customization, as well as cooperative and crossplay features.
Describing Light of Motiram is no easy task. It blends elements from various genres, reminiscent of titles like Genshin Impact with its open-world RPG mechanics, Rust with base-building, and Horizon Zero Dawn with its giant mechanical animals that players can train and customize, echoing the creature collection seen in Palworld. This amalgamation of features might raise eyebrows, especially among fans of Horizon Zero Dawn, who might see similarities. However, the inclusion of such a diverse range of gameplay elements is both surprising and intriguing.

While the ambition to include so many complex systems and maintain high visual fidelity across multiple platforms, including mobile, is commendable, it also raises questions about feasibility. Currently, a mobile beta is reportedly in development, which will give us a clearer picture of how Tencent and Polaris Quest plan to adapt Light of Motiram for smartphones.
